Profile

Alexander Parrish is an actor, singer, composer, writer, and multi-disciplined artist primarily based in New York’s entertainment industry. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute and Stonestreet Studios, and has been selected for numerous specialized programs in composing, Shakespeare performance, and creative entrepreneurship.

As a unionized actor with deep roots in musical theater, he has performed in numerous Off-Broadway musicals, concerts, and regional productions, as well as independent films and webseries. As a composer, he recently completed the score for The Next American President (slated for Fall 2016 workshop in Chicago) and is writing music and lyrics for two original full-length musicals. He also writes pop/rock songs for emerging singers, and is expanding into the video game music development. As a writer, he is completing the libretto for two of his own musicals, and writes various op-eds, essays, and journalistic articles for new media outlets.

Parrish currently heads Enigma productions, a subsection of the private creative consulting company, Enigma Enterprises. Current projects for Enigma include a musical theater debate podcast, a mobile platform for documenting the artistic process, and a new YouTube Q&A comedy channel. He is also a vocal and performance instructor for multiple teaching organizations and local NY youth programs, and specializes with children and non-traditional mature students. He is an occasional musical director, pianist, and a cappella arranger, and also has experience in customer service and stage construction/electrics.

Alexander seeks to combine his storytelling instinct, understanding of music, and empathetic grasp of character to explore the confines of real life, creation, and the artistic process. And most of all, he tries to bring professionalism, dignity, and excitement to all of his work, with just a touch of gusto.
